Two Brannock Humphries & Berman Lawyers Featured at Florida Justice Association’s Annual Convention

Brannock Humphries & Berman shareholders Tom Seider and Phil Padovano participated in a special seminar for trial lawyers held as part of the Florida Justice Association’s signature annual event in West Palm Beach.

The seminar, Appellate Practice for Trial Lawyers, ran the appellate gamut, from standards of review to preservation of error to oral argument.  A panel of distinguished retired judges, including Brannock Humphries & Berman’s own Phil Padovano and former Florida Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente, also offered their own observations on each topic.

Tom covered brief writing.  He focused on the importance of clear and compelling storytelling for both parties to the appeal.  Leaning on his many years of experience writing appellate briefs, as both the appellant and the appellee, Tom emphasized the value that clarity, brevity, and emotion can add to a brief.

The Florida Justice Association’s Annual Convention is the organization’s premier event of the year, aimed at bringing together lawyers who strengthen Florida’s civil justice system and protect the rights of Florida’s citizens and consumers.  Hundreds of lawyers from all over the state attended the four-day event, which also featured a luncheon honoring former Justice Pariente and many other seminars and networking events.
