Second District Court Of Appeal Affirms Trial Court In Family Law Dispute

Working hand-in-hand with the Sessums Law Group, Brannock & Humphries helped obtain an important appellate victory today from the Second District Court of Appeal.

The case involved a dispute between two former spouses.  The former wife attempted to argue that a letter written by the former husband during the marriage was a binding contract that restricted the trial court’s ability to fairly divide the parties’ marital assets.  The trial court rejected this argument during the divorce proceedings, and the former wife appealed.

Given the importance of the issue, the Sessums Law Group, which had obtained the favorable result at trial, brought Brannock & Humphries on board in the appeal to assist in the briefing and in preparing lead counsel, Mark Sessums, for the oral argument.  Following the joint filing of the briefs and Mr. Sessums’ oral advocacy, the Second District upheld the trial court without comment.

Brannock & Humphries is proud that this team approach to the appeal could produce the best possible result for the client.
