Professor and Lecturer

  • Mr. Pitchford frequently lectures on important legal issues, such as constitutional law, copyright law, and privacy law. Drawing on his computer programming background, lecture topics have included the security and privacy issues inherent in wiretapping and laptop seizures at border crossings.

  • Mr. Pitchford is also a frequent lecturer on computer programming topics, such as reverse engineering and cyber security. He has spoken at several of the largest computer security conferences in the world and at the Air Force’s Maxwell J.A.G. Training University.

  • Mr. Pitchford has also taught college courses on computer programming and computer security.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Brannock & Humphries, Mr. Pitchford interned with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida with Magistrate Monte C. Richardson and with the Florida Supreme Court under Justice Harry Lee Anstead. He also served as a Juvenile Justice Prosecutor Intern with Florida State Attorney’s Office in Pinellas County.

Non-Legal Experience

Mr. Pitchford enjoyed a long career in the software industry before moving into the legal profession. He is the co-founder of the Azureus Bit-Torrent Client and has served as the Chief Technical Officer at several software companies over the years. Mr. Pitchford also previously served as a Pinellas County Guardian Ad Litem.


Mr. Pitchford received his B.A. in Software Systems Design with honors from New College of Florida and his law degree with honors from Stetson University College of Law. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi.
