Mr. Padovano is an active member of the Tallahassee community. When in private practice, he has always handled numerous pro bono cases to provide legal services to those who could not afford to retain a lawyer. Always helping others, Mr. Padovano is a past recipient of the Leon Association for Retarded Citizens Volunteer of the Year Award. He is also a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and in addition to flying, he has many hobbies, including: sailing, fishing, and woodworking.
Before joining Brannock & Humphries, Mr. Padovano served as a member of Florida’s judiciary. From 1996 through February 2015, Mr. Padovano was a member of Florida’s First District Court of Appeal. From 1988 to 1996, Mr. Padovano was a Circuit Judge on Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, serving as Chief Judge from 1993 until his appointment to the appellate bench. Preceding his time on the judiciary, Mr. Padovano was in private practice for fifteen years in St. Petersburg and then Tallahassee. During that time, he handled a variety of cases. He was particularly well known for his experience handling capital punishment cases, and he was often appointed by judges to represent criminal defendants facing the death penalty.
Mr. Padovano earned his B.S. in 1969 from Florida State University. He earned his J.D. in 1973 from Stetson University College of Law. In law school, Mr. Padovano was a member of the Stetson Law Review and the honor roll. He also received the Public Defender Clinic Certificate of Merit and the Freshman Moot Court Outstanding Participant Award.
